IncuityEMI™ Product Overview

Manufacturing information resides in multiple control systems and business applications across the enterprise. People find it impossible to access, correlate and interpret data from these different systems to make timely and good decisions. Incuity is an Enterprise Manufacturing Intelligence solution that integrates these silos of data across the manufacturing enterprise, empowering decision makers with timely, clear and context rich information.

IncuityEMI™ Product Overview

The Incuity solution coexists with your existing control systems and business applications, and exposes the full value of the data locked in these systems by presenting a coherent picture of your manufacturing business through familiar browser and Microsoft Office interfaces.

Incuity's zero install client software, self configuring capabilities and pre-configured reports provide immediate insight into the manufacturing process to drive better decisions, directly impacting business performance.

Incuity provides the foundation for a range of manufacturing analytics including:

  • Real time executive dashboards
  • Automated production reporting
  • Key Performance Indicator (KPI) monitoring and alerting
  • Downtime analysis and reporting
  • Process verification
  • Process optimization

Incuity can be deployed at the line or equipment level and be extended to cover plant-wide and then enterprise-wide manufacturing information with full reuse of engineering efforts.

At the heart of Incuity are Collection Services to extract data from multiple sources, Data Services to integrate and manage the information, and Presentation Services to empower people with manufacturing intelligence.

Presentation Services

Power users gain insight into the manufacturing process using powerful analytic applications or Microsoft Office, and can publish these insights to the web as flexible reports with the click of a button. Casual users across the enterprise access timely, clear and context rich manufacturing information from the Incuity portal via their browsers. Developers and third party applications access the data via standard web services, and standard scripting and object, OLAP and relational query interfaces.

Analytic Applications

Incuity Trend and Incuity X-Y Plotter graph real time and historic plant data. These zero install applications present data from multiple different historians, control systems and HMI systems. Users navigate through Incuity's manufacturing model to select equipment, material and time dimensions.

Incuity Trend graphs real-time and historic plant data on a time axis and features:

  • Multiple time axes for comparing episodes across time
  • Fence-posting capabilities for trending batches and shifts
  • Display of alarm limits and alarm conditions
  • Flexible zooming, panning, scaling and stacking

Incuity X-Y Plotter graphs one tag as a function of another over time and features:

  • Shape definition to define an operating region.
  • Alarm generation when values leave the operating region (even when the plotting application is not executing)

Users can easily save, export and publish the data from these applications.

Microsoft Office Add-ins Wizards make it easy to bring data from multiple control and business systems (via Incuity) into the familiar but powerful environments of Word and Excel. Here users can use Excel's analysis capabilities and Word's reporting capabilities, or use the Incuity Add-in wizards that make it easy to manipulate and present the data.

Users can publish content directly to the web, and collaborate by fetching and building upon existing published reports. Real time reports are automatically refreshed in Excel, and in the end users browser after publishing.

Incuity Portal

The portal's pre-configured reports allow users across the enterprise immediate access to Incuity's rich manufacturing information. Portal content quickly grows as users of Office and of the Analytic Applications publish and collaborate, and end users customize and personalize the portal. An executive dashboard provides overview displays using familiar man machine interfaces like gauges, range indicators and LEDs.

Reports are generated on-demand, or on a scheduled or event-driven basis, and can be distributed via Email.

Incuity includes legacy-compatible clients. This ensures compatibility, eliminates the need for script changes and new training, and preserves support for older and / or localized versions of Windows, Office, SQL Server and InSQL.

Data Services

Incuity's data services integrate silos of data across the manufacturing enterprise.

  • The manufacturing data model reflects equipment, product/material and people relationships, and provides a coherent and unified view of the data that is available, abstracting the specifics of where the data comes from and where it is stored.
  • In-line transformation services clean and reformat the data as needed, and can be configured by the client tools to generate calculated variables.
  • Master data management services either react to data definitions from master systems or assume role of master and transform the data.
  • Event services correlate manufacturing transactions and time series data, bridging the traditional gap between business systems and control systems.
  • Aggregation services summarize the data with standard (min, max, sum, average) and engineering (rate of change, integral) functions, and aggregate the data for subsequent multi-dimensional analysis (OLAP).
  • Security services manage users, roles and their access to data.

Connection Services

Incuity connects intelligently to a broad array of data sources in use by companies everywhere:

  • Traditional automation control systems used in manufacturing operations
  • The full range of real-time data historian products
  • A broad range of databases and data warehouses containing production data in specific structures
  • A full complement of manufacturing management applications
  • Traditional MES and ERP systems, planning and scheduling applications

Connectors can provide master data configuration, and define new data definitions and structures, facilitating the initial setup and subsequent changes.

Selected connectors support write-back / update capabilities to support transactions such as changing a value in a PLC, or updating data in SAP.

Standards

The underlying premise of the Incuity product is that by adopting a Service Oriented Architecture, and embracing industry standards such as OPC DA and HDA, S95, Open Source, Object Management Group, Web Services and others, users can avoid both the costly replacement of existing systems and expensive customizations.
